Ha alle spalle una storia di quasi tremila anni e numerosi volti, frutto delle diverse epoche, che si sovrappongono nella citt\u00e0 odierna, riconosciuta come la pi\u00f9 bella del mondo.<\/p>\n<p>Gi\u00e0 nel I secolo a.C. il poeta latino Orazio scriveva: \u201cTu non vedrai mai nulla di pi\u00f9 grande di Roma\u201d. Capolavoro assoluto del genio creativo umano, arricchito dalle opere dei maggiori architetti, scultori e pittori tra cui Bramante, Raffaello, Michelangelo, Caravaggio, Bernini e Borromini, nel 1980 il centro storico di Roma, compreso all&#8217;interno delle mura gianicolensi (a destra del Tevere che attraversa la citt\u00e0) insieme alle propriet\u00e0 in territorio italiano della Santa Sede, e alla Basilica di San Paolo Fuori Le Mura, \u00e8 stato iscritto nella lista del Patrimonio mondiale. Leggenda o forse storia, \u00e8 questo l&#8217;inizio della citt\u00e0 dove le aree archeologiche sono innestate perfettamente all&#8217;interno del tessuto urbano. Il territorio Patrimonio mondiale si compone di 22 rioni dove scoprire le vestigia del lungo passato della citt\u00e0: da centro della Repubblica romana a fulcro della vita politica e culturale dell&#8217;Impero, da cuore della cristianit\u00e0 a capitale d&#8217;Italia. Reperti archeologici, palazzi religiosi ed istituzionali, piazze, fontane ed obelischi: tutti gli elementi di Roma hanno influito su intere generazioni di artisti e letterati.<\/p>\n<p>A Roma si trovano alcuni tra i monumenti pi\u00f9 importanti dell&#8217;antichit\u00e0: il Colosseo, il pi\u00f9 grande anfiteatro romano; il Foro romano ed il complesso dei Fori Imperiali, uno dei luoghi pi\u00f9 evocativi della citt\u00e0 nonch\u00e9 testimonianza degli antichi fasti di un potente impero; il Pantheon, vero prodigio ingegneristico, prima tempio pagano e poi chiesa destinata ad ospitare tombe illustri come quelle dei re Vittorio Emanuele II e Umberto I; l&#8217;Ara Pacis Augustae; il Circo Massimo, dove si tenevano le corse delle bighe; le Terme di Caracalla; le Colonne di Traiano e di Marco Aurelio; la Domus Aurea voluta la Nerone dopo l&#8217;incendio di Roma; le catacombe; gli antichi acquedotti; il Mausoleo di Augusto e quello di Adriano su cui si innalza oggi Castel Sant&#8217;Angelo, collegato al Vaticano tramite un passaggio denominato \u201cil Passetto\u201d e sulla cui terrazza viene ambientato l&#8217;ultimo atto della Tosca di Puccini.<\/p>\n<p>C&#8217;\u00e8 poi una Roma rinascimentale e barocca le cui meravigliose piazze, chiese, opere pittoriche e scultoree sono tra i fondamenti della cultura occidentale. Basta citare Piazza di Spagna con la celebre scalinata di Trinit\u00e0 dei Monti e la fontana della Barcaccia, gi\u00e0 dal XVI secolo centro culturale e turistico nonch\u00e9 luogo di incontro di artisti e letterati; Piazza Navona con la fontana dei Quattro Fiumi del Bernini; piazza del Popolo con le caratteristiche chiese gemelle; la Fontana di Trevi, consacrata alla celebrit\u00e0 mondiale dalla &#8216;Dolce Vita&#8217; di felliniana memoria.<\/p>\n<p>E ancora, la Roma della politica, con i simboli dello Stato italiano: Piazza Venezia con l&#8217;imponente Vittoriano alle cui spalle sorge il Campidoglio, sede del Comune di Roma; il Quirinale, residenza del Presidente della Repubblica; Palazzo Madama e Palazzo Montecitorio, sedi rispettivamente del Senato e della Camera dei Deputati della Repubblica.<\/p>\n<p>A far parte del Patrimonio Unesco anche alcuni edifici religiosi e pubblici della Roma papale. Tra questi, alcune delle chiese pi\u00f9 affascinanti della Capitale: San Luigi dei Francesi, famosa per tre splendide tele del Caravaggio; Santa Maria della Pace, nota per il chiostro di Bramante e l&#8217;affresco delle Sibille di Raffaello.<\/p>\n<p>Tra i palazzi, da ricordare la Cancelleria, che ospita i tribunali della Santa Sede, Palazzo dei Propilei, Palazzo Maffei, Palazzo Callisto e il Palazzo di Propaganda Fide.<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;itinerario nella Roma religiosa non pu\u00f2 prescindere dalle quattro basiliche: Santa Maria Maggiore, bellissimo esempio di architettura paleocristiana per i suoi splendidi interni rivestiti di mosaici; San Giovanni in Laterano, con la caratteristica facciata sormontata da statue; San Paolo Fuori Le Mura, costruita dall&#8217;imperatore Costantino e arricchita con lastre di alabastro egiziano e affreschi che ricordano la vita di San Paolo; San Pietro, dal fascino immortale, e non solo per i credenti, con il maestoso colonnato esterno, il cupolone che domina sulla citt\u00e0 al quale si accede percorrendo 537 gradini, e all&#8217;interno la Piet\u00e0 di Michelangelo, il baldacchino dell&#8217;altare del Bernini e la statua dell&#8217;apostolo martire il cui piede destro \u00e8 ogni giorno accarezzato e baciato da migliaia di persone provenienti da tutto il mondo per ottenere 50 giorni di indulgenza.<\/p>\n<p>Innumerevoli poi i musei e le gallerie d&#8217;arte: i Musei Vaticani, che ospitano la pi\u00f9 grande raccolta di antichit\u00e0 esistente e vasti oltre 7 chilometri, con all&#8217;interno del percorso la Cappella Sistina dove sono raffigurati oltre 300 personaggi; i Musei Capitolini, una delle collezioni pubbliche pi\u00f9 antiche al mondo; Palazzo Altemps, nelle sue sale eleganti sono ospitate alcune tra le pi\u00f9 stupefacenti sculture classiche di Roma e la Galleria Doria Pamphilj, con i capolavori di Tiziano, del Parmigianino e di Velazquez.<\/p>\n<p>Chi non ama programmare e dovesse decidere di visitare la citt\u00e0 senza seguire un itinerario preciso, potr\u00e0 piacevolmente perdersi nei vicoli di Roma, dove ogni dettaglio \u00e8 una continua sorpresa.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #13130d; font-family: Metropolis, sans-serif; font-size: 1.5em; font-style: normal; font-weight: 600;\">Around<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Roma offre differenti punti panoramici da cui godere di una vista mozzafiato sulla citt\u00e0: salendo al Gianicolo, alle terrazze del Vittoriano, al Pincio, al Giardino degli Aranci o al cupolone di San Pietro sar\u00e0 possibile ammirarla nella sua completezza, dai monumenti alle ville e ai giardini, sino al Tevere e ai Colli Albani in lontananza.<\/p>\n<p>Ma Roma \u00e8 anche una delle capitali mondiali del cinema. Non a caso, Cinecitt\u00e0, il complesso di studi cinematografici sorto negli anni Trenta, \u00e8 uno dei sinonimi del &#8216;made in Italy&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Roma \u00e8 dunque tappa obbligata per cinefili e videoamatori: la citt\u00e0 ha infatti dato i natali a numerosi attori e registi di fama internazionale, tra i quali Alberto Sordi e Anna Magnani, il padre dello &#8216;spaghetti western&#8217; Sergio Leone e il maestro dell&#8217;horror Dario Argento.<\/p>\n<p>Molte le pellicole cinematografiche che hanno contribuito a diffondere l&#8217;immagine di una Roma un po&#8217; onirica e dilettevole, ma anche amara e faticosa con il cinema neorealistico che predilige i quartieri popolari: da \u201cLadri di biciclette\u201d del 1948 a \u201cUn americano a Roma\u201d del 1954 girato nel ghetto ebraico, sino \u201cVacanze romane\u201d del 1963, e al colossal \u201cCleopatra\u201d dello stesso anno dove viene esaltato l&#8217;Arco di Costantino.<\/p>\n<p>A 50 chilometri da Roma, diversi gli itinerari culturali tra cui scegliere: andando in direzione est si pu\u00f2 visitare Tivoli, con le ville Adriana e d&#8217;Este, entrambe beni Unesco e in direzione nord ovest le necropoli etrusche di Cerveteri e Tarquinia, anch&#8217;esse nella lista del Patrimonio mondiale.<\/p>\n<p>A 25 chilometri a sud ovest c&#8217;\u00e8 invece Ostia antica, la cittadina romana meglio conservata insieme con Pompei ed Ercolano.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAltre Rome verranno e io non so immaginare il volto; ma avr\u00f2 contribuito a formarlo&#8230;Roma vivr\u00e0. The core of history, a history more than 3000 years long, true, authentic, concrete history, filling eyes and lungs of the visitors, who can actually walk IN it.<\/p>\n<p>Since the I century b.C., when the poet Horace used to write: \u201cYou will never see anything as great as Rome\u201d, this City, also known as the \u201cCaput Mundi\u201d (the Head of the World) has been acknowledged as the most beautiful city in the world. An undisputed tribute to the ingenuity of men, enriched by the works of great Masters in architecture, sculpture and painting as Bramante, Raffaello, Michelangelo, Caravaggio, Bernini and Borromini. This abundance of wonders has earned the Historical centre of Rome (on the right side of the river Tevere, which crosses the city), together with the Holy See\u2019s properties in Italy and the Basilica of S. Paolo fuori le Mura (or St.Paul Basilica) a place in the Unesco World Heritage List since 1980. This same wolf, breast-feeding the babies is, today, the iconic symbol of Rome.<\/p>\n<p>Be its origin real or legendary, Rome is today one of the Capitals \u201cof the World\u201d, internationally renown and made up of 22 neighbourhoods, in which its glorious past is perfectly enshrined.<\/p>\n<p>Rome was the centre of the Republican life, the hub of the political and cultural life of the Empire, the heart of Christianity and the Capital of Italy. The very air of Rome, so full of a past not exactly disappeared, for it is in front of the visitors\u2019 eyes, its archaeological findings, its religious and institutional buildings, its squares, fountains and obelisks have had (and still have) a huge impact on artists and intellectuals of every age and nationality.<\/p>\n<p>Rome is the see of many of the most famous buildings and sites: firstly, one of its symbol, the Coliseum, the biggest Roman amphitheatre; the Roman Forum and the Imperial Fori, one of the most romantic and evocative sites in the city (particularly enjoyable in spring or summer evenings), a great reminder of its glorious past. The Pantheon, an engineering masterpiece, initially a pagan temple and later transformed into a Christian church, hosting the tombs of many illustrious characters, as the Kings Vittorio Emanuele II and Umberto I, the Ara Pacis Augustae, the Circus Maximus which used to host chariots races and today occasionally hosts different kinds of folklore and sports events. Not too far from the Circus Maximus, it is possible to visit the Caracalla Baths, today hosting sports and cultural events. The Trajan and Marcus Aurelius Colums, the Domus Aurea, residence of Emperor Nero, who wanted it to be built after the great Fire of Rome; the \u201cunderground\u201d Rome, full of ancient catacombs, the aqueducts, the Shrines of Emperor Augustus and Emperor Hadrian, upon which the magnificent Castel S. Angelo today stands: this huge building was once used as a gaol and was (and still is) linked to the Vatican through a small corridor called \u201cil Passetto\u201d and was the location of the final act of the \u201cTosca\u201d, a dramatic Opera by Giacomo Puccini.<\/p>\n<p>Leaving the Ancient Rome, the visitor can easily jump a little later in time, in the Renaissance and Baroque part of Rome, full of magnificent squares, churches, paintings and sculpture, a great example for the Western culture.
